Just a short note today. Last night we had a community feast — massive amounts of potatoes, venison from thawing freezers, and apple and berry cobblers. The core institutions of Celo Community: the health center, Camp Celo, and Arthur Morgan School have all come through in huge ways for the community. The AMS staff and a handful of local day students are a reactor core’s worth of what Arthur Morgan called “human uranium.” They provide hot meals twice/day for 30+ people, and are seen all over the community, shoveling river muck from houses, moving foot bridges back into place, and providing regular wellness checks on the most remote elderly household in all of Celo. They have been doing this all without running water (until a generator was installed on day 6).
AMS has hosted Morning Sing in the mornings plus two Rosh Hashanah celebrations, and last night there was music at the community center after the feast, replete with classic Morning Sing tunes like Hard Times Come Again No More and Paradise.
